Christians in the Visual Arts is proud to offer Highly Favored: Contemporary Images of the Virgin Mary, a visual exploration of the mother of Jesus. Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox traditions all have images of this young Jewish woman who was declared by the archangel Gabriel to be “highly favored” in God’s sight.
An all-media, juried exhibit of work created using repeated processes or patterns. The rhythm of simple, repetitive gestures are used, often unconsciously, by many artists to escape the fast and furious world that we sometimes find ourselves consumed with. For some, this provides calm and order to an otherwise chaotic existence. The SSAC Visual Arts Committee is seeking work that emulates this kind of quest for solace. This show will be juried by New York artist Jane Moffitt, herself an artist who works in this obsessive style.
